[re] Self Defense in modern Taekwondo

Dear Avner

I totaly agree with you. I think to many taekwondo practicer forgett the self defence aspect. Taekwondo was first of all developed for self defence. I have tried to solve this issue with bringing in more practical self defence techniques in the currilicum. The white belts learn "boxing" jab, and combination with knee and elbows. After getting higher grades I teach more advanced jabs, like uppercut etc. I have bought in a lot of focus pads, so my students train this techniques in pairs. This has also made the classes more intens.

I allso agree with grandmaster Chang, when he says that we must master all aspects of taekwondo, poomse, kyourugi, ho sin sul etc.

Regards, Master Henrik
