Some Words from Master Changs Pupils
SANGROK World Taekwondo Academy Family

Master Henrik S. Hunstad

The SANGROK gym has become like a second home for me. I'm very privileged to have experienced the training and the spirit of SANGROK. The way Master Chang has taught me, has given me an opportunity to learn high quality Taekwondo. SANGROK represent not only taekwondo to me, but also the best part of Korean culture. I feel honored to call Master Chang my master and friend. Anyone that wants to experience Korean culture at it's best and wishes to train the best Taekwondo, should visit the SANGROK World Taekwondo Academy. The way of Master Chang's taekwondo teaching is a blend of traditional taekwondo and Olympic taekwondo. If you are a beginner, an instructor, competitioner etc, SANGROK gym and Master Chang has something to teach everyone.

Sincerely,

Master Henrik S. Hunstad,
International Master Instructor, 5th dan
Director of SANGROK Norway.

2008 Hanmadang to be held in Los Angelos, USA.

2008 Hanmadang to be held in Los Angelos, USA.

Recently there has been many discussions on where the 2008 World Taekwondo Hanmadang will be held. Last month on the Mooto website the following issues were discussed

"The possibility of hosting 'World Taekwondo Hanmadang' of Kukkiwon in a foreign country is becoming high. In the midst of this negotiation, organizations from the United States are in constant battle to acquire the rights to host the event under their names.

There are people who support the idea and there are those who disagree with hosting the event anywhere else but in Korea, birthplace of Taekwondo. Kukkiwon hasn't completely denied the possibility of hosting the event in a foreign country but they have not made any official announcements either.

Woon Kyu Um of Kukkiwon told us during our interview "shouldn't we host Hanmadang somewhere else other than Korea to spread our culture and Taekwondo?" but also said "nothing has been finalized in regards to this idea of hosting Hanmadang somewhere else. We will carefully review everything before making a decision."

He also added "there's also a problem of financial burden if we host Hanmadang in a foreign country. Travel expenses are something many people wouldn't be able to accommodate unless they are from a well off country."

From the Kukkwon's point of view, it seems it will be difficult for the time being to host the event in a foreign country. But since nothing has been confirmed either way, anything's possible at this point."

This week a decision has finally been made and the Hanmadang will not be held in Korea. The 17th Hanmadang will move to Los Angelos, USA at the Anaheim Convention Center. The date is also finalised and it will be held from the 16th July to the 20th July 2008 instead of  the begining of September. The Kukkiwon aims to now hold the Hanmadang one year in Korea and the following year in a foreign country, starting with the United States as the first foreign country.  These are current plans and ideas but what the future will hold for the Hanmadang is not yet clear.
