Dear Sangrok Family:
The new year has already come and we are now living in 2007. However, if we follow the Chinese calender, the Chinese New Year has yet to occur. This year marks the end of the 'Year of the Dog' and the beginning of the 'Year of the Golden Pig'
Whether it is a myth or not, the year of the Golden Pig is quite special, as it only occurs once in every six hundred years. It is believed that babies born in this period are to have good fortune and will lead a comfortable and wealthy life.
The Pig is the 12th animal in the Chinese Zodiac. If you were born in 1935, 1947, 1959, 1971, 1983, or 1995 then your Chinese Zodiac sign is the Pig. This year is the year for Yin Red Fire Pig. The Chinese Zodiacs are not only divided by the 12 animals( rat, ox, tiger, rabbit, dragon, snake, horse, sheep (ram or goat), monkey, rooster, dog, and pig), but are also divided by the five elements (metal, wood, water, fire, earth).
Contrary to its rather negative reputation in the West, the Pig of Chinese Astrology may be the most generous and honorable Sign of the Zodiac. Pigs are highly intelligent creatures, forever studying, playing and probing in their quest for greater knowledge. They can be misinterpreted as being lazy, due to their love of enjoying the good stuff; this Sign could happily spend hours napping, taking a long bubble bath or feasting over an incredible spread of rich foods.
The Year of the Golden Pig offers wealth, success, and good fortune.
Regards
Master Chang |
